Our Story

From our family to yours

My name is Daniela DiMarco, I was born in a small village in Austria where our family farmed grain and made wine. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of baking holiday cookies with my mother.

After studying tourism and working in the hospitality industry, I decided to go abroad. During that stay I met my husband Michael and we both moved back to Austria, where we raised four children. In that time I baked for my family and helped my mother decorate themed cakes. I made some fun cakes for my childrenโ€™s birthday parties which was always very exciting for them.

After some years we decided to relocate to the United States. In Vermont we welcomed our fifth child. Vermontโ€™s rolling hills welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Of course I baked here as well. My new found friends recommended that I should offer my baked goods up at the Hardwick Farmers Market. Our pretzels were a hit, and the following year we expanded into a full selection of Austrian desserts.

Running a bakery while homeschooling and running a household has its challenges, but the joy of connecting with customers, sharing our heritage, and creating something wholesome and beautiful keeps me inspired.

Our familyโ€™s dream is to continue growing Haus on the Hill, and maybe one day, open a small store, where even more people can enjoy our pastries.
